Michael Green, one of the screenwriters of 2011's Green Lantern live-action film, has been hired to rewrite the script of the Blade Runner sequel, as announced Friday.
Green will be rewriting a draft by Hampton Fancher, the co-writer of the original 1982 sci-fi classic. Ridley Scott will return to the franchise to direct the follow-up, set "some years" after the original concluded, according to the official announcement. No release date has been set.
Beyond Green Lantern and other movie/TV projects like his 2009 NBC series Kings, Green also has significant writing credits in the comic book medium, including multiple arcs on Superman/Batman and the first 12 issues of The New 52 Supergirl, both with his writing partner Mike Johnson.
