Six-time Academy Award-nominee Glenn Close is the latest addition to the Guardians of the Galaxy cast, according to a Deadline report.
The site says Close is set to play an unnamed "major role" in the film, specifically a leadership position within the Nova Corps. This is at least superficially similar to the part John C. Reilly was recently rumored to be playing — Rhomann Dey, a Nova Corps leader in Marvel's comics — but it doesn't appear that it's the same role, as Deadline mentions Reilly as part of the cast.
Close's role is also projected by Deadline to be "the closest thing to the one that Samuel L. Jackson plays in Marvel’s Avengers movie."
In 2011, Close received a host of awards and nominations for her title role in Albert Nobbs, and last year wrapped a five-year run as the lead in the acclaimed legal thriller Damages.
