Captain America: The Winter Soldier has started production, and Disney has revealed the first promotional photo from the film, along with new details on the cast and plot. Robert Redford's character's name was confirmed as Alexander Pierce, described, as expected, as "a senior leader within the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization." Alexander Pierce is taken from Marvel Comics, having first appeared in 1998's Nick Fury vs. S.H.I.E.L.D. #3. Another previously unnamed role, the one played by Emily VanCamp, was named as "Agent 13;" the comic book alias of Sharon Carter, the role she was widely speculated to play. Additionally, Disney confirmed that UFC champion Georges St-Pierre will, as rumored, be playing Batroc the Leaper. Here's the plot description, directly from Disney's press release: "Captain America: The Winter Soldier will pick-up where Marvel's The Avengers left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C." Captain America: The Winter Soldier is currently in production in Los Angeles, with locations including Cleveland and Washington D.C. The film is scheduled for release on April 4, 2014.
