FABLES Expands with Encyclopedia, Fairest OGN

Bill Willngham's Fables continues to expand in 2013 with one book that looks at the past and cast, and one that is a spin-off of a spin-off, of sorts.

The books, announced Thursday morning on the PopCandy blog, don't have release dates, but do have first details. Fables Encyclopedia offers a look at the histories, both classic and in-Fables versions, of the characters that have appeared in the books so far. Entries by Jess Nevins will tell of, for example, how Snow White was originally conceived, and then what her history and role within the book is. Willingham and artist Mark Buckingham will also provide commentary throughout.

The newest Fables original graphic novel will center on the Fairest characters. The spin-off that focused on the princesses of the world carries on in this hardcover anthology. All the short stories are written by Bill Willingham, and told from the point of view of the Magic Mirror. Adam Hughes, Chrissie Zullo, Karl Kerschl, Mark Chiarello "and more" are drawing the stories.
