Report: 'Revenge' Star Lands CAPTAIN AMERICA 2 Female Lead

Captain America: The Winter Soldier has its female lead, according to Deadline: Emily VanCamp, star of ABC's Revenge.

The report, posted Friday evening, didn't specify VanCamp's role, but it certainly seems likely that she's playing Sharon Carter, especially given the major part the character played in the "Winter Soldier" comic book storyline and the prominent role of Peggy Carter (Sharon's aunt in the comic books) in 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger.

Sharon Carter was first introduced in 1966's , by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Dick Ayers. She's been both a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and a long-standing love interest for Steve Rogers. She was a significant player throughout Ed Brubaker's eight-year run on Captain America, which included the "Winter Soldier" story, and also a part of the writer's lineup.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is scheduled for release on April 4, 2014, with Chris Evans returning in the title role, and Anthony and Joe Russo directing.
