NYCC 2012: Cowabunga! LEGO Gets TMNT License

Move over, Marvel and DC, a third set of superheroes has joined the fray in officially licensed LEGO sets. This time, it's the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the popular toy company announced this morning at New York Comic Con.

The sets will begin shipping January 2013, starting with the "Shellraiser Case" featuring everyone's favorite talking Brain, Krang, and custom green turtle minifigs. Additional sets haven't been shown yet, but with the quick growth of the Marvel and DC lines, you can bet more Turtles will be seen soon. After all, only a pair of the fighters themselves are in this first set, and you know we have to see a Shredder minifig sooner rather than later.

LEGO promises this is just the first reveal of the convention, so stay tuned for more building block fun soon.
