UPDATED 12:14pm ET: Marvel has just released a new Daniel Acuña variant cover to October's Uncanny Avengers #1, and since that new Marvel NOW! series is as much about the consequences of Avengers Vs. X-Men as any other, we thought we'd just throw the two new images together. Original story: Avengers Vs. X-Men #12 is on the way in October 2013, and it looks to end with an even bigger bang than it began. With this new teaser image from superstar artist Adam Kubert, things look dire for the Marvel Universe. That's because the teaser shows Kubert's take on the classic Dark Phoenix. Of course, that was Jean Grey, who is long since dead, but this image sure looks a lot like her. Of course, there are two other fiery redheads who have featured prominently in this tale so far, Scarlet Witch and Hope Summers. Will one of them be donning the Phoenix Force and going a little Dark? Could Jean, our Jean be coming back despite the vehement denials by editors at Marvel Comics? We'll find out in October. Marvel's official text on the image follows: "The biggest comic event of the year comes to its Universe-shattering conclusion in AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #12 this October. "Which team will reign supreme? Join the conversation on Twitter with #AvX! "Here comes the pain as all your favorite super heroes enter the battle—and only one team will emerge victorious! "Don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime comic event in, AVENGERS VS. X-MEN #12, on sale October 3 in comic shops everywhere, on the Marvel Comics app, and the all-new Marvel Comics Webstore!
