According to Variety, a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine is already an ongoing concern for star Hugh Jackman. As the trade reports, Fox and Jackman’s Seed Productions are in development on a sequel to this past weekend’s #1 film.

From the trade: “The Seed partners have begun planning the sequel, which they are squarely focusing on the samurai storyline originated in the comic series, and whose Japanese locale was teased after the film's final credits. A writer has yet to be hired. Seed will produce.”

The project is just one of many in Jackman’s future. As reported yesterday, the Australian-born actor is slated to start in an adaptation of Doug TenNapel’s graphic novel Ghostopolis for Disney, as well as Personal Security in which Jackman will play a police detective “forced into bodyguard duty for a spoiled teen heiress who is receiving kidnapping threats,” Drive, an adaptation of the novel by James Sallis, and a contemporary film version of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical Carousel. And all of that is not counting Houdini a Broadway musical slated to open in 2010 in which Jackman will play the title role.
