Newsarama has been sold to TopTenReviews

Newsarama, the long-running comics news site, has been purchased by TopTenReviews, a content aggregation site out of Ogden. UT, it was announced today. The site, along with Space.com, and LiveScience, were sold by Imaginova, a science news web publisher which purchased Newsarama in 2007.

I did a search and couldn't find this news anywhere. The source, Publishers Weekly, is a reliable one.

Hmm... today isn't April 1.
Who knows what the future of this site it. As I said elsewhere the content on the front page is excellent, at least from this editor's perspective. But the boards? Blech. Sink or swim time now? The fact this post got NO responses until I came along doesn't really bode well for the current state of things on here.

There are already threads mentioning this. Search posts by the moderator for a start, then look on the Homepage.

Alas, I am old school enough to just expect front page news to spawn a Talk@ discussion.

There has been a surprising lack of discussion everywhere, actually, and I wonder what that means.

Simply put: Lack of posters.

The front page news has it's own discussion attached. This thread is short because
(a) It's the third such thread on the forum (though the others don't have such a clear title)
(b) There is no interest
(c) There are no posters

(d) Everyone's tired of having to sign in on every other visit, in order to post to an already shrunken audience.

No reason for this to not have been fixed by now. Small inconveniences drive more away, methinks, than big failings. It's that way in politics and shopping, so why not here? (Not that this is how it "should be." I'm just standing back and commenting.)

I wonder if the new owners are bothering to read this, though. I doubt it.

I agree.

Does anyone know when the new owners will actually be taking over?

You're absolutely right. I remember the old 'Rama used to have major problems, the server would crash constantly and yet people never stopped posting. Here there are so many minor, little problems that you eventually get bored ...
