I can't be the only one excited about this new book. I'm a big Brother Voodoo fan and can't wait to see what gets developed with him. I've been reading all his old issues where he first appeared on Strange Tales all those years back and been having a blast.

Jericho Drumm's a great character and has potential to be worked on given that there aren't definitive stories with him yet. He has a great hook and the religion of vodou is amazing and vast. One of the abilities that Voodoo has is the ability to communicate with the Loas of Vodou for help and guidance. With the different Loas out there combined with the skills he has already brings a great dynamic and great possible ideas for stories. The stories of the Loas themselves in the regular Vodou religion are all very interesting and appealing and could bring many things to the table that casual Marvel readers aren't used to. Then you have the fact that his twin brother is practically a ghost who follows him around and is the second half of him as together they make up the overall hero.

A big thing with the character also is the fact that he's a psychiatrist who previously hated the vodou lifestyle. This could also bring great conflict of whether he wishes to continue with this lifestyle or not and could bring great tension with him and his brother.

People just need to give the guy a chance before debunking what they could do with him. If you've read enough of the character and do a bit of research on vodou, the Loas, etc, you'd know there's easy ways to have him stand on his own without being a black Dr. Strange.

I still say they should give Fred Hembeck a one-pager in the back of every issue, like the Hulks cartoon that is in the back of every issue of Hulk. Hembeck carried the torch for Brother Voodoo for years in Marvel Age.

That would guarantee me getting this book. I'd love to see the return of Sister Voodoo and Voodoo Child.

If Exiles can't make it past six issues, i give Doctor Voodoo four.

Marvel will have instant buyers remorse and think "we were being kinda silly putting that out weren't we..."

Yes.

I can't give you the issue number (was it one of the Annuals?), but in Marvel Age Fred Hembeck had several strips featuring Brother Voodoo, and one of them introduced Sister Voodoo and Voodoo Child, and that was their battle cry.

I give it a killion issues! Seriously, I'm glad Marvel is trying something different here. I look forward to it. I hate adding another book to the pile, but I hope this is a sleeper hit. Nothing wrong with taking a D-lister and making him a power player in the MU.

you are not and I can't say I am long time fan if anything I am a Doc Strange fan. Sure, I remember the character from back in the day but hardly near as exciting as this full treatment. The art is just amazing and it sounds like it has been very well thought through; what more could you want?

If they did that again, Voodoo Child's new battle cry could be Here Comes the Drums! :ugeek:

Just so you know, before setting with Brother Voodoo, Doctor Voodoo was originally going to be his name. Jericho is an MD and a freakin' Voodoo doctor.
