Captain America Reborn 4
I have been around the relaunch of Captain America under Brubaker since the first ssue and this issue culminates nearly 4 years of story telling. Granted we have 1 more issue to go but the pay off for those fans that have stuck around is pretty sweet as the Red Skulls plan with the help of Doom, Osborn and Zola finally come to fruition. Whether or not they last will be intersting. Marvel has promised the return of Steve Rogers in the New Year but will it be the Steve Rogers that we know? Intersting times indeed!!

Well, a couple of points, sadly somewhat negative.
1. I think they announced somewhere that they've bumped it up to 6 issues.. Since that wasn't planned I have a ditsinct feeling the Hitch shoe will drop and the series will wither end late or Butch Guice wil have to finish it. OK by me but I'm concerned how long Joe Q will sit around waiting for Hitch until he makes that call.
2. My over all problem with this story is 'the body.' there was a body.. It was laying in a morgue and they even performed an autopsy. Brubaker INSISTED the body was the real deal. So what is this body bouncing around time?

Maybe It's not Cap's physical body, I think It is his mind jumping to different points in his life and inhabiting the physical body during that period. And the body at the end is the body they did the autopsy on and all that.
I'm also going to contradict your other point aswell, Hitch has actually been keeping up with the release of these issues. I think there were some weeks were it got pushed a little bit, but nothing major. But I'm confident it will come out on time.
The only problem i had with the issue was the different angles Hitch drew the scenes from. Some were a little weird and kind of gave me a head ache, granted I already had one, but it was a little annoying that the scenes weren't all centered.

Re: Captain America Reborn 4
Been awhile. This issue drove me back to the 'Rama.
Hmmmm. Rogers being assassinated took me out of comics altogether...made me take a good hard look and all that...like I read somewhere else here, everyone’s favorite character gets killed and brought back eventually and there’s no point crying about it.
My first thought was this was going to be another classic example of Steve's indomitable will. Skull takes over...screws with Buck a bit, Rogers’ fights back and shuts Skull out. .which while I won't complain....much, we've seen that many times over.
Issue 5 is going to be boombastic and 6 outta bring it home.
Bucky...Winter Soldier? Nomad? thoughts?

Yeah, where did they get the body from? If Skulls only plan was to steal Steve's body from the past then why shoot him in the present ? And if the one shot takes place after Reborn then won't it ruin the ending of reborn?

I have to say, I'm still not enjoying this series at all. It just feels so far removed from what made Bru's Captain America such an instant classic. The time-jumping feels tired and unoriginal, as does the development here regarding Cap's body. This whole storyline still feels tacked-on and poorly planned, and there's not even particularly strong character writing to salvage it. Add to the all that the fact that I'm not a big fan of Hitch's, and I really didn't want to see Steve back this soon, and I'm just not especially happy with the direction of Captain America right now. I still trust Bru to make the book something worth reading, but since Cap's return is now a sure thing I just want to skip through the rest of Reborn to see what Bru will do in the ongoing with both Steve and Bucky.

1. I still don't like the fact that this is mini instead of part of the regular series. I see no good reason for it except to make it an event.
2. I don't think it needed to be 5 issues (or 6 as it stands not). The story has felt padded and drug out and not up to Bru's usual Cap excellence. If this had been 3 issues, I think it would have been a lot better.

The 5th issue was supposed to be the last one. As long as the one shot comes out after the 5th issue, there probably won't be anything getting ruined.
With that said, I don't like the fact that they have a one shot as an epilogue and then added an extra issue to Reborn. Why not just tell the story in the regular series? Also, as I mentioned earlier, Reborn already has felt drug out. The one one shot and added issue is adding insult to injury.
It really feels like editorial took Bru's story for Cap and wanted to make it an event.

1) Brubaker said he decided to take it out of the series because he was adding so many supporting character outside of the regular cast that he thought it needed to be on its own.
2) I agree it does seem a little drug out. But as I look back on the flashing and stuff that was such a part of the issues, they seemed necessary to flesh out the state cap was in, and him coming to terms with being a man that lives out of his times. So looking at it from under the surface it makes sense for it being more than a 3 or 4 issue mini.

Hey I hope you're right about the schedule. I do think that Guice as a buffer or finisher is helping tremendously in this getting out on a timely basis. That said, no issue shipped in October. #3 shipped on Sept 15th. With October being a 5 week month that nearly puts it at a two month gap. I love Hitch's stuff, I really do.. I'm just saying, though, this is how it always starts..
As for the body: Does anyone know/remember if the Skull had Caps corpse prior to Reborn?
