How is your LCS handling the rings?
Curious to see what each store is doing with their rings, if they bothered at all.
My local shop is giving each away with the issue in question, or you can buy one for a dollar, but only one to a customer, one way or t'other. Seems fair.

At my LCS you get one with the purchase of the related book. One ring per book, not limited to one per customer.

50 cents if you purchase the book, 5 bucks if you don't.

Your store is charging you for the ring if you buy the book??? You're supposed to get it free. DC is shipping 2x as many rings as books I believe, and they were intended to be given away with the specific book.
$5 as a straight out purchase seems a tad excessive, but if someone wants to pay that...

Buy the comic and they give you the ring.

Yeah my shop is selling them for $2. Flat.
You don't even get them for buying Doom Patrol. Still $2.
For the Black Lantern ring they gave them for free if you subscribed for all the Blackest Night issues, and $2 if you didn't.
I'm not too happy.

Same here, there was a sign in front of Doom Patrol that said, "Free Ring with purchase of this book."

Re: How is your LCS handling the rings?
My store's not big enough to purchase the number of each book necessary to get the rings. The owner barely sells 4-6 copies of Doom Patrol, and isn't going to order 25 just to have a couple of rings (that he'd also have to pay a little bit for) that very few people are gonna get.
I would, I really want all the rings, but he's got a set of all of them anyway which he's going to sell or give away as a prize for his canned food drive. But I understand where he's coming from.
50 copies of Adventure Comics? It's a great book, but again, he's barely selling 10 copies. It's unfortunate for the smaller stores with passionate fans who have to go to the larger stores to get these things.

Yeah, I'm not too thrilled with them right now. I would buy the books regardless...adding 50 cents to the cost is ridiculous. And $5??? It's a colored piece of plastic! Bah humbug I say!

I'm pretty sure these rings cost maybe half a cent each to make. It's a hell of a markup.
Next week I'll say I read that the rings were supposed to be free. Even though I've known for months, and am silently cursing myself for dropping the $2 for my shiny Sinestro ring.

Re: How is your LCS handling the rings?
My FLCS isn't carrying the rings, and I already called Jim Hanley's Universe in NYC, you have to buy the new Doom Patrol issue to get a ring. Which I can't really do on my budget right now. So I'm outta luck on the rings.
Either that, or I'll have to work some kind of trade with somene willing to part with a couple of spare rings from each batch.

Re: How is your LCS handling the rings?
When I stopped by my now former LCS last week to check on it, they thought the rings were still on the original Nov - Jan, unconnected to the tie-ins, release schedule. The clerk I spoke with got rather rude and insulting when I tried to suggest otherwise. When they get the rings in, they said that they were going to be giving them out as "buy any DC book, get a ring free"; not specifically with the tie-in since, as mentioned, they didn't think the rings and tie-ins were coming out the same week. The rings would also be given out first-come-first-serve and they refused to hold them for file holders, even if you were having a DC book held that week (ie - you were committed to buying something).
Between the rude service (an ongoing problem at that store), lack of knowledge about a major promotion and no incentive for file holders (no discount and no holding of promo items like these), I finally gave up with the store and closed my file, so I haven't stopped by this week to see how the promo actually went down there. I currently have a deal with someone online to snag a set of rings for me; it's actually going to work out cheaper for me, since I don't have to buy the tie-ins.

Re: How is your LCS handling the rings?
My store is giving them away with a related BN book or you can buy them separately for 3 bucks.
I think they are putting together sets as well.
Btw - these rings are much nicer/sturdier and larger than previous GL ring giveaways.

My LCS is selling them at 50 cents each (doesn't matter if you get any of the related books or not). They also have a list of folks that asked for a set in advance, they get each ring free as they come in.
