Is it just me or is the run of Batwoman in the Detective comic just awful. I am debating about axing my subscription of it until Batman comes back. I think she is the worst Batwoman ever. How long must this go on!! Am I the only one?

LMAO!!! I definitely have to agree. I didn't want to hold the fact that she's gay or lesbian against her but since that to this day is her defining characteristic or personality trait I just can't care much for the charctder. :(

IF this were true, I would agree with you. However it is not. She is a lesbian, but that is not all there is to her. If people are actually reading Detective, they would know this.

Detective has been excellent. Both the art and the story have been really good.

Why do you think this? What don't you like about it or her?

Well bad8 I was about to say that, yes in fact, it is just you, but ibistheinvincible agrees with you so there are at least two of you :P

This book could be about Snapper Carr painting his garage and it would still be one of the best books on the stands based solely on the artwork of JH Williams III.

I still think it's too early to judge the character- this is the first in-depth feature of her ever (and they haven't even told her origin yet!)- and other than subtle references her lesbianism hasn't even been mentioned.

It's just you (and ibistheinvincible, whom I suspect doesn't read some of the books he criticizes).

The book has been excellent. I don't know how this book could be any better than it is. The story is great, and the art is some of the best in mainstream comics from any publisher. I would LOOOOOOOOOVE for this creative team to continue telling Batwoman stories indefinitely.

Which just shows how limited your imagination must be! :P

As for whether I have read the material or not, why do you bother "asking" me (as you did earlier) when you have already made up your mind about the answer?? :?

Besides great artwork cannot make up for a lacklustre story! ;)

I didn't already make up my mind. I just decided I didn't believe your answer.

For example, your statement about Kate's "defining characteristic" doesn't sound like something one would get from actually reading these past issues. What it does sound like is something you parroted from something you read someone else post 33 months ago, just as 52 was wrapping up.

I mean word-for-word.

You think you're very perceptive, don't you??

For your information I actually formed my impression of these issues from reviews I read over the Net about them. Then nothing I saw in the actual product I found to be of any intrest to me. But by all means believe what you want to. You will anyway...

Yeah, no kidding.

Try reading some actual comic books once in a while, maybe. Then maybe you can start talking about what a character's defining characteristic is, and actually know what the hell you are talking about.

Here's a suggestion: Change your name to Southtown Jerk.

Maybe we can work out a trade where I do that and you stop pretending you've read comics you haven't actually read.

Also: that offer to tell you how to post pictures in exchange for you not using so many smileys is still on the table.

No deal. And I'm certainly not going to read Detective after the kind of attitude you have displayed towards me and every other user on 'Rama....

I'm not asking you to read Detective. I'm asking you to stop PRETENDING you've read it while you regurgitate a complaint you read someone else make.

And why does that matter so much to you when the comics industry deliberately lies and misinforms the public on a whole range of matters month after month??

I have no idea what you are babbling about now.

I just hate to see you help tear something good down when you haven't even bothered to form your own opinion about it. The thread-starter isn't enjoying the book, but his opinion means something because he is reading it. You are something different.

I've been loving this series so far. I'm one issue behind since I get my books monthly, but the previews of the latest issue are fantastic. JH Williams is doing extraordinary storytelling through his art. Greg is weaving a great story and actually creating a story for this character who we've only had glances and sound bytes of.

The fact that Kate is gay has nothing to do with the story, so far, beyond a small scene. Which is the way it should be, as the story has nothing to do with sexual relationships.

As for The Question back-up, I also enjoying that, but not to the same degree. I'm finding that the shorter page count isn't serving the story as well as it could. I think the story needs to be structured a little differently to most effectively use the pages. I'm not a writer by any means, but one thing I've read time and again over the years is that a writer will say that creating a story with fewer pages is tougher to do.

I'm actually enjoying this more than I thought I would. The story is solid, and it looks like it's going somewhere (fast). The co-feature has been enjoyable but not to the level of the main feature.
