Amazing Spider-man 300 was created in 1988, so he is not a creation of the 90's. Just all of his characterization happened in the 90's and it totally ruined the potential of the character. close(-)

like it or not, Clint's suicidal ninja schtick is whre he's at as a character. It may seem stupid but they should at least show a natural progression to him NOT being like that. Personally I think, given what Clint's been through, that the characterization makes a little bit of sense. He's killed, ressurected, killed again, ressurected one last time for s and g's and has memory of all this, feels betrayed by a dear friend, he sees everything he fought for fall apart over the last couple of years only to be driven undergound by Normal Osborne. The man's not Cap, he doesn't have much to be sunny about. close(-)

Venom became a joke some time in the 90's with the gigantic bulgin muscles and huge dislocated jaw. He became a joke when they came up with a thousand different explanations for the symbiote and it's effects on people. He became a joke when carnage was introduced. All of those things were ridiculous and ruined a potentially good character (let's be real here Venom didn't start off as a fully fleshed out character). What they've done over the past few years is ignore a lot of the 90's bull crap and at least show us a compelling character. close(-)

This issue was very hit or miss. It had some well done action scenes and some interesting dialogue, and then it had some really terrible stuff in it as well. Hank and Clint's interaction was a corny "let's pat each other on the back non stop" kind of thing, Hank giving Bucky "props" was lame. Why the heck would Bucky care what Hank Pym thinks? I can't remember who said it but the whole "we have a founding avenger now! we can't fail" bull crap was just stupid. He's consistently been the most useless avenger until Slott got ahold of him. I think my biggest problem is the characterization that Slott uses. They are totally inconsistent with how they appear in other books. Compare Bucky cap in this book to him in Bru's monthly title, it's off. Compare Clint here to how he is in his monthly title, it's off. It's fine to have a voice for the characters, but I think it's wrong to ignore what's going on in the main books they appear in. close(-)
