Atlantis Fantasyworld in Santa Cruz CA - The shop itself is nothing spectacular, but it's interesting because the original shop location was the one seen in the "Lost Boys" movie. Unfortunately, the original location was destroyed in the '89 quake, but they do have some pictures from the set displayed throughout the current store.

Go to the "Boards" and check the Transformers Forum. If you ask your question there, you might get some good responses. A lot of those people attend the annual BotCon Transformers Convention, so I'm sure some of them would have experience with Transformer costumes. close(-)
