And do the Norse gods REALLY have to be an all-white bunch Just because or their origin? The movie, I'm guessing, is working on the assumption that these gods are actually REAL and therefore DO exist oustide of european folklore!

But I just couldn't give a crap - If THOR is a decent, well scripted and acted movie that treats the mythology with respect and does as good a job of making Thor a household name again, then that's more than anybody in this thread probably deserves.

Seriously, get a grip. close(-)

I actually rate Antivenom as a character, and the current miniseries has been fun so far. If you want the REAL Eddie Brock then he's right there, making a mess of things yet again.

If you want the "evil Spidey doppleganger" who only really existed for a handful of issues before he became a franchise all in himself, then there's no reason why MacGargan couldn't fill that role other than the incompetence of current writers falling back on the that cannibalistic, hulking version of venom that Warren Ellis created for a laugh. I mean, Bendis introduced that serum that could bring him back down to a regular, human build...MacGargan has a history with Spiderman that goes back waaaayyyyy further than the original Venom, who was a post-Bronze age villain at best.

There's no reason why the current Venom couldn't be tweaked and developed into a major threat/perfect doppleganger of Spiderman again.

The 'Sinister Spiderman' mini was such a wasted opportunity - Here you have two Spiderman - one good, one evil - occupying the same city where the public still thinks there's only one of them. And the pair haven't veen had so much a genuine face off since Dark Reign began. As it stands, Venom is an 'Avengers' villain, not a Spiderman villain.

The sooner Dark Reign finishes up the better close(-)

I don't know how people can be so put off by the delays in this case. Each issue has been dense and fun enough to warrant re-readability. I've read each issue twice on buying 'em, and will read the whole lot again when it's done. And I'll probably read it again and again later down the line too. Decent creative teams should be allowed to take their time, it's all about longevity here. close(-)

At times this ish was a bit corny, in a gushingly 'Avengery-Avengers' kinda way, but it had to be done to prove a point - Especially Clint's more likeable characterisation. And there were so many "HELL YEAH" moments in this ish, it was awesome to see the best members from all the current Avengers books teaming up like that. Even Nu-Cap seems to fit-in and look good amongst this roster.

Cynics have called this team-up a 'desperate attempt to get people to read the title' but even if that's true, Slott and Gage have proved it possible to effectively use dozens of characters in one comic and make it work without having to fall back on old school techniques (cramming info into miniaturised boxes etc).

Goddammit I wish it was Slott writing Siege. But then again I'd be more than happy if Slott was to simply keep the current roster in a post-Return-of-the-Big-Three Avengersverse.

Just give him Clint, dammit! close(-)
