Marvel has provided Newsarama with a first look at the
wraparound cover by artist Olivier Coipel. Click on the thumbnail for a
larger version.
The math for this is a touch iffy, but runs like this:
Thor vol 1: #1-#502, Volume 2: #1-#85, and Volume 3: #1-#13 = 600.
Yes, this does count Journey Into Mystery (which was retitled The Mighty Thor with issue #126) #1-#82, even though Thor first appeared in issue #83; and doesn’t count Journey Into Mystery #503-#521 (the series returned to its original title after The Mighty Thor #502 when Thor left the Marvel Universe for the “Heroes Reborn” universe.)
Regardless of the math, the renumbering allows for a extra-sized issue featuring stories by both J. Michael Straczynski and Stan Lee.
The solicitation for the issue reads:
The mighty God of Thunder hits a major milestone! THOR goes back to its classic numbering for this issue 600 mega-event, and even Stan “The Man” Lee joins the party with an all-new story! J. Michael Straczynski and Olivier Coipel bring their widely acclaimed run to a major culmination! And Chris Giarrusso lays down an epic Mini Marvels Thor adventure! PLUS jaw- dropping wraparound covers by Olivier Coipel and Marko Djurdjevic! Miss this issue?! We say thee NAY!
Rated T+ ...$4.99
The issue is due in stores on January 21st, 2009.
