DC's Deep Six Makes For a Competitive October Sales Chart

DC Comics pulled off a rare sweep of the top-half of Diamond's October 2009 Direct Market comic book sales charts, in fact accounting for the six bestselling titles of the month, on their way to closing the Market Share gap between themselves and industry leader Marvel Comics to the narrowest it's been in a long time.
According to the preliminary sales charts released by Diamond, led by Blackest Night #4, and largely on power of Blackest Night tie-ins, DC kept Marvel at bay until the #7-10 positions. when New Avengers #58 came in as their bestselling title for October, a month that's notable for not shipping a new issue of Captain America: Reborn, which has been a Top 2 selling title for each of its first three issues.
Marvel on the other hand charted the bestselling graphic novel of the month, the Wolverine: Old Man Logan hardcover.
DC's showing at the top of the comic book chart left it just percentage points behind perennial leader Marvel in both Market Share categories, 37.69% Unit Share to Marvel's 40.12%, and 33.82% Dollar Share, to Marvel's 36.50%.
