Diamond's August 2008 Comics Sales Charts & Market Share

Diamond Comics Distributors released their Top 100 Comic Book and Graphic Novel sales charts and market share report for the August 2008 comic book Direct Market on Monday, and Marvel Comics roll continues with more healthy leads in both Direct Market Dollar and Unit Share.
Marvel's Secret Invasion #5 was the bestselling comic book of month, followed by DC's Final Crisis # 3. DC also had the #4 selling title of the month in Batman #679 part of the "Batman R.I.P." storyline, but the remaining 7 of the Top 10 titles all came from Marvel, including New Avengers #44 at #3.
DC charted the top-selling graphic novel of the month in a race that wasn't even close. The publisher's most recent trade paperback reprint of Watchmen sold over 4 times the number of the next bestselling trade, Dark Horse's original Star Wars: The Force Unleaded graphic novel.
Despite Watchmen's strength, however, as mentioned Marvel still led comfortably in both Marvel Share categories, including 48.09% Unit Share to DC's 32.73%, and 41.26% Dollar Share to DC's 33.06%.
