The question that Newsarama asked last November, namely, “Where are the Twilight comic books?” has been answered.
Appropriately enough, the outlet that dubbed Twilight a phenomenon and helped catapult it to mega-status, Entertainment Weekly announced today that Little, Brown will publish graphic novels of Twilight. The artwork for the graphic novel will be by Korean artist Young Kim, while Twilight creator Stephanie Meyer is “deeply immersed in the project, reviewing every panel,” according to EW.
EW’s Tina Jordan gushes about the art shown: “What’s interesting to me is that it doesn’t look simply like an artist’s rendering of Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson. In fact, the characters seem to be an amalgam of Meyer’s literary imagination and the actors’ actual looks.”
Judging from what EW reported, it appears that the graphic novel will be an adaptation of the first novel. No writer was named, other than saying Meyer will be closely attached.
This week’s Entertainment Weekly (on sale July 17th) will carry finished illustrations of Edward, Bella and Jacob.
