The DC Universe panel will be covered play-by-play full by CBR, but here's a taste of some new preview art shown Saturday afternoon.
Some highlight images include the cover to Grant Morrison’s next Seven Soldier LS, Frankenstein with art by Doug Mahnke; Superman/Batman #24; Batman and the Monster Men by Matt Wagner; and the covers to the final issue of Villains United and Rann/Thanagar War
CBR will have more details later, but here’s a few tidbits to tied you over…
- Villains United #6 reveals the secret identity of the mysterious Mockingbird.
- DC described Infinite Crisis as beginning on “the dawn of the DC Universe’s darkest day, as the world’s greatest superheroes become divided amongst themselves at the same time surrounded by their most fearsome foes.”
- October’s Teen Titans #29 by Geoff Johns features Red Hood visiting the Titans to claim his rightful place, and answers what Donna Troy’s return to the team means. Art is by Carlos D’Anda with a cover by Tony Daniel.
- The Fearsome Five return in October’s Outsiders #29, with a new recruit powerful beyond belief and whose presence increases the danger to the magical realms of the DC Universe
- Black Hand returns to “wreak horrifying vengeance” in Green Lantern #6
- Hawkman’s year of year of “mystery, madness and mayhem” comes to violent conclusion in October’s issue #15.
- Following Villains United, a weakened Jason Rusch seeks help at S.T.A.R. Labs, which is under attack by an OMAC bent on killing Firestorm in October’s Firestorm #18.
- In October’s Manhunter, Kate learns the secrets of her supersuit.
- The events of Day Of Vengeance takes a toll on the JSA in October’s issue #78. Dr. Fate helps the team find the missing Jakeem and Thunderbolt, while the Spectre’s rampage continues
- Seven Soldiers continues in October with FRANKENSTEIN by Morrison and Doug Mahnke and Bulleteer, with pencils by Yanick Paquette.
- In Shazam/Superman: First Thunder #2, Supes and Cap Marvel join forces to defend the Fawcett City Museum from creatures unleashed by mysterious cult members, who may have ties to Lex Luthor and Dr. Sivana.
- “With a Vengeance” continues in October’s Superman/ Batman #24, as the fate of the universe rest in the hands of Batwoman, Superwoman, and Superlad.
- According to DC, the “world is going to hell as Crisis begins”, and something happens to Superman in October’s Superman #222 that scares even the people closest to him.
- When the badguys of Villains United want a piece of Gotham City in October’s Batman #646, the Black Mask tries to deliver it. But before Batman can stop the SSOSV, Red Hood takes matters into his own hands.
- Batman: Year 100 is , a 4-issue Prestige format LS by Paul Pope starting in early 2006. In the year 2039 in a city overrun by technology, Batman’s legacy lives on. But federal agents believe he’s a murderer, and try to stop him at any cost.
- Batman: Hopelessness & Faith is created by Tom Fontana, creator/head writer of HBO’s Oz and co-creator of Homicide: Life On The Streets.
His OGN illustrated by Cliff Chiang shows what happens when Batman learns the hard way that his actions are enabling some of his greatest foes.
- Batman And The Monster Men is by Matt Wagner, a November project that pits Batman against a legion of horrors created by Professor Hugo Strange.
We also have a few looks at some projects discussed at DC’s earlier Wildstorm panel, including:
- Team Zero, but Chuck Dixon, Doug Mahnke and Sandra Hope. Set in WWII, the six-issue December Wildstorm LS features the original agent codenamed “Deathblow”, put in charge of a 7-soldier unit on a mission into the heart of Germany.
- The Ninja Boy creative team of writer Allen Warner and artist Alé Garza reteam in 2006 for the 6-issue LS Skye Runner. In an age of tyrannical gods and powerful giants, a young heroine dreams of following her warrior spirit and exploring the world. But she’s stuck at home, until a horde of monsters kidnaps her niece and nephew, forcing her to take action in a world that’s far bigger than she ever imagined.
- Robotech: Prelude To The Shadow Chronicles is Wildstorm’s October return to that property. Written by Tommy Yune, Jason and John Waltrip, with art by Omar Dogan and Udon, the 5-issue series featuring the original Robotech cast leads into an upcoming DVD release. After 20 years, the mysterious circumstances behind the disappearance of Admiral Rick Hunter will be revealed
