GOD OF WAR Returns, Brings Friends for Multiplayer
With new 4 versus 4 multiplayer (plus some other modes that haven't yet been announced), a team of player-created Spartans will take on a team of player-created Trojans – none of the players in MP will be Kratos – in a brawl that includes everything you already know and love from the God of War franchise, melee, chain attacks, magic, traps, and yes, even giant boss monsters that can be battled in the middle of a multiplayer match. Throughout the match, the god you choose to align with out of the four possibilities will award you with new weapons, armor, and abilities depending on your play. You will also be able to unlock upgrades throughout. Not much else was revealed in the initial announcement of multiplayer, merely that it is part of the game, and that at least five large maps are planned. The multiplayer will be both online and offline.
"The bar has been set quite high for this franchise as each God of War title succeeds in being better than the last," said Todd Papy, Game Director, God of War: Ascension, SCE WWS Santa Monica Studio in a press release. "But, unlike previous releases, we're providing a deeper look into Kratos' tormented past and psyche that fans have not seen before. Combined with refined gameplay, jaw-dropping visuals, and a fresh twist on competitive gaming with our new online multiplayer mode, I guarantee that God of War: Ascension will give fans what they have been eagerly waiting for, and much more."
