Following a trial in January, Marvel is once again offering a $5 coupon redeemable at participating comic book stores, which can be acquired with the purchase of select digital comics.
Qualifying purchases of "select" Avengers or X-Men digital comics need to be made on one of Marvel's iOS or Android apps between 12:01 a.m. eastern time on March 25 to 11:59 p.m. eastern on March 31. The $5 coupon will then be emailed on April 1, and valid until May 1 at 11:59 p.m. eastern.
"After the success of our first Marvel Comics app coupon program in January, we knew we would do another — and with Avengers vs. X-Men #1 in stores next week, this was the perfect time for round two!” said David Gabriel, Marvel's senior vice president of sales, in a statement. "We received tremendous feedback from retailers and consumers, which let us know this is a program that really drives new customers into comic stores."
Marvel is promoting this offer under their recently debuted "ReEvolution" banner, which also includes digital initiatives Infinite Comics (comics specifically tailored to the dimensions and capabilities of mobile digital devices) and the AR App (an enhancement of print comics by activating "DVD extra" type bonus features on a mobile device).
