Disney Interactive Media Group, the gaming arm of Marvel Comics’ parent company announced today Marvel: Avengers Alliance, the first Marvel or Disney title to launch for the Facebook platform. In the game, a galaxy-wide disaster known as “The Pulse” exposes the Earth to attack by powered up versions of classic Marvel villains. As an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, the player must assemble teams of heroes to do battle against new alliances of enemies.
“This is a deep, turn-based strategic combat game reminiscent of classic console RPGs,” said press representative Cecilia Sandoval when pressed by Newsarama for more details. In game, players can recruit from a pool of "dozens" of heroes including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Wolverine, Hawkeye and Black Widow. The heroes can then be trained using an in-game collectable called ‘ISO-8’ to improve their stats or develop unique abilities and attacks.
