UPDATE Final: Marvel SHATTERED HEROES Teasers (FEAR ITSELF)

Marvel Teaser: SHATTERED HEROES

Update 2, 8/19
: The final Shattered Heroes teaser continues to alude to dire consequences for Thor, who is being replaced by Tanarus as the God of Thunder. With a literal shattered Mjolnir, it looks like Thor's return to the Avengers, and the reuniting of the powerhouse trio of Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America truly was short-lived.

Marvel's official text, with another quote from Tom Brevoort, is below:

“The war is over, and the warriors return home, carrying with them scars of battle, both physical and mental. Now the cost will be tallied, the casualties buried and mourned, the rubble swept up and carted away. But the damage to our heroes isn’t easily repaired, the wounds not easily healed.  Decisions are made and lives are changed—can shattered heroes find renewed courage to go on?” – Tom Brevoort, SVP Executive Editor

Update 1, 8/18: Thursday brings another Shattered Heroes teaser, this one very similar to the image released by Marvel last month at Comic-Con — with the exception that a shadowy figure has now been added between Iron Man and Valkyrie.

It's not the first time the image has changed, either: Thor was in the original teaser debuted at Marvel's Fear Itself panel at Comic-Con, and was then replaced by a then-unknown character in the upper-left corner — which now appears to be Tanarus, the "New God of Thunder" teased by Marvel last week.

While Wednesday's teaser had a quote from Marvel's senior vice president of publishing Tom Brevoort, this one has words from editor-in-chief Axel Alonso. It's image "2 of 3," so except another Shattered Heroes teaser, most likely on Friday.

Original story: Marvel released a teaser for Shattered Heroes Wednesday morning, in the form of a logo, the release month of October 2011, and a quote from Tom Brevoort, the company's senior vice president of publishing. The file name says "1 of 3," so it sounds like there are more teasers to come, as has become Marvel tradition as of late.

Shattered Heroes was first announced last month at Comic-Con in San Diego , described as one-shots focusing on Thor, Captain America and Iron Man in the aftermath of Fear Itself.

Here's Marvel's official word, with a longer Brevoort quote:

SHATTERED HEROES

“The war is over, and the warriors return home, carrying with them scars of battle, both physical and mental. Now the cost will be tallied, the casualties buried and mourned, the rubble swept up and carted away. But the damage to our heroes isn’t easily repaired, the wounds not easily healed.  Decisions are made and lives are changed—can shattered heroes find renewed courage to go on?” – Tom Brevoort, SVP Executive Editor
