Is Mike Mignola’s eminent creation Hellboy about to join recent superhero expirees Ultimate Peter Parker and Bucky in the afterlife? Publisher Dark Horse Comics is promising comic book retailers a “major development” in next week’s Hellboy: The Fury #3, big enough that they expect the events will warrant “mainstream media attention” and make it what they expect to be “the most in-demand issue of Hellboy in history!”
“Without a doubt, one of Dark Horse's longest running and most critically acclaimed series published in the last 25 years is Mike Mignola's Hellboy,” reads a notice sent to retailers Wednesday via Diamond Comics Distributors. “Now, as Hellboy: The Fury approaches its final issue, with events in the story pointing towards a grim outcome, the question has been raised: Is this the end of Hellboy?”Scheduled to go on sale August 10, Hellboy: The Fury #3 will present “an important development for Mignola’s property that Hellboy and B.P.R.D. readers past and present won’t want to miss.”
