Marvel Studios Skips Hall H Panel at Comic-Con

SDCC 2010: Marvel Studios: Thor & Cap

Last year, Marvel Studios delivered perhaps the most memorable moment of Comic-Con International: San Diego 2010, by debuting the entire primary cast of Avengers during their Hall H panel. Don't expect a repeat performance.

The Los Angeles Times reported today that there will be no Hall H presentation from Marvel Studios at this year's event, saying that due to the busy schedule of actually filming the movie, the studio "wasn’t prepared to compete with its own past and wild fan expectations." Earlier this month, The New York Times reported that Warner Bros., Disney, DreamWorks and The Weinstein Company were all skipping this year's Comic-Con as well — meaning no The Dark Knight Rises or Man of Steel panel.

The Times speculates that Marvel Studios may be holding back due to their parent company's event in August: Disney's biennial D23 Expo, this year scheduled for Aug. 19-21 in Anaheim. The studio will still have a presence at Comic-Con, with a booth on the convention's exhibit floor. Captain America: The First Avenger is scheduled to open the Friday of Comic-Con.

Several studios are still planning on Hall H presentations, including Sony promoting 2012's Spider-Man reboot starring The Social Network actor Andrew Garfield.
