Murderous Mayhem Goes West in December's CARNAGE U.S.A.

Mayhem Goes West in CARNAGE U.S.A.

The Carnage miniseries wraps next week, but the book's creative team of writer Zeb Wells and artist Clayton Crain won't be away from the character for long: they're working on a five-issue miniseries titled Carnage U.S.A., Marvel announced on Wednesday.

The series debuts in December. This adds to an already high-profile fourth-quarter 2011 for Wells, who on Monday was announced as the writer of new ongoing series Avenging Spider-Man, starting in November with artist Joe Madureira.

In an article on, Wells describes the book's plot as Carnage headed from New York City to Doverton, Colorado for as-yet-unrevealed reasons, leaving a bloody trail in his wake. Carnage's long-time foe Spider-Man and the rest of the Avengers will appear in the title, but Wells hinted in the article they may not be enough to stop the title character.

"Carnage’s attack on America is of national concern, so it’s all hands on deck," Wells told "But it’s soon apparent that even the Avengers’ biggest guns are in over their heads, and it falls to a more specialized group to try and take Kasady down. All symbiotes on deck!"

Marvel's official press release follows:
