Image Exclusive: MORNING GLORIES Yearbook, Second Collection

MORNING GLORIES Yearbook in August

August is the one-year mark for Image's hit ongoing series Morning Glories, and what better way for the boarding school-set series to commemorate the occasion than with a yearbook?

Morning Glories Yearbook 2011 is a 32-page one-shot, with a recap of what's happened thus far in the prep school thriller from series writer Nick Spencer and cover artist Rodin Esquejo. The comic will also contain character bios, sketches and other extras, with a cover price of $2.99.

The release is the latest in a long tradition of the yearbook format being applied to comics. Fellow teen books Gen 13 and New X-Men: Academy X received them in the past, and Marvel put out several G.I. Joe yearbooks back in the '80s.

Also coming in August is the second Morning Glories trade paperback, collecting the comic's second story arc, issues #7-#12. In an interview last year with Newsarama, Spencer said he plans for the series to run 75 issues.

"There’s a lot to find out. Hopefully we can make the ride and the mystery as entertaining as possible," Spencer said.

Since the debut of Morning Glories, Spencer has launched ongoing titles at both Marvel and DC, but the creator-owned Image title has remained a critical and commercial success, culminating in 2011 Eisner nominations for "Best Continuing Series," "Best New Series," "Best Writer" (for Spencer), and "Best Cover Artist" for Rodin Esquejo.

Covers and solicitation information for both is below, and look for Image's full August solicitations early next week.
