The leader of Garth Ennis' The Boys is getting his own breakout mini-series this year, with Boys co-creator Darick Robertson back on art duties for the seminal tale. As Billy Butcher's story is revealed in The Boys Butcher, Baker, Candlestickmaker #1, the story will go through London, war, love, and lots and lots of violence. In a press release, Ennis said of the story, "This is the story I've been waiting to tell since the very beginning of The Boys," says writer Garth Ennis. "A good, long, disturbing look into the dark." Likewise, Robertson, a long-time collaborator of Ennis, stressed the importance of this series to the overall mythos of this team of ass-kickers. "This mini series is essential to the "Boys" legacy," says artist Darick Robertson. "The script is one of Garth Ennis' finest, (personally my favorite since our work together on Marvel's Punisher: Born). It answers a lot of questions about who Butcher is and why he is the way he is. It is heartbreaking, and yet has the kind of action and humor you'd expect from the two of us. If you're a fan of the series, this is the story you've been waiting for!" The Boys Butcher, Baker, Candlestickmaker #1 will be released in July 2011. Visit Newsarama on FACEBOOK and TWITTER and tell us what you think!
