Now it's time to get to the nitty gritty - total packages.

First up is Limited Series and Original Graphic Novel. For this category, 50% or more of the limited series had to take place in 2010, so some notables like Top Cow's Artifacts and Marvel's Avengers: Children's Crusade (both of which got multiple nominations from contributors who couldn't read directions- watch for them next year!) did not qualify. Really, there were so many options, we didn't need to shoehorn anymore in there. We originally planned to break up the "indie' titles from the Marvel and DC ones for this category, then something wild happened. Tons of our submissions were from publishers other than Marvel and DC! In fact, 6 of the top 16 were from non-big two companies. The tournament seeds have 7 publishers represented, 8 when you break Vertigo off from DC Comics. 15 publishers, altogether, were nominated.

All that means it's been a great year for creativity in the wonderful land of comics. Here are the top 16 for you to vote on for your favorite. A fun statistical coincidence happened this round, too, with Judd Winick limited series gaining the second and fifteenth seeds, meaning he's in a showdown with himself in the first round!

If you see some on here you haven't read yet, well, you have some shopping to do at your comic shop!

Remember, you don’t have to be a registered Newsarama reader to participate. EVERYONE can help choose by picking one choice in each of the below brackets. Again, there are eight of them in Round 1, so keep going until you’ve voted in ALL eight brackets. Voting for Round 1 will remain open for 1 week.

Newsarama Note: Full methodology for nomination is below the polls. Voting is open until Wednesday, Dec 15 at 5pm EST.

10 Newsarama contributors submitted their lists for their personal Top 20 in each of the five categories. The results were tabulated using a weighted system that awarded an escalating number points according to how high the nominee appeared on the list - 20th place was worth 1 point, 19th place 2 points ... up to 20 points for 1st place.

The final nominee lists are the top 16 nominees with the highest point totals in each category.

Each bracket is seeded according to point total, with the highest vote-getter in each bracket moving onto the next round.

There will be 4 total rounds for each category (the “Sinister 16”, "Extremis 8", “Fantastic Four” and Finals) eventually resulting in one overall “Favorite of 2010” for each group.
