Eric Trautmann Is the Writer of Dynamite's VAMPIRELLA

Eric Trautmann New Writer on VAMPIRELLA

Dynamite Entertainment announced their acquisition of Vampirella back in March, and today named Eric Trautmann as the writer of the new Vampirella ongoing series starting in November.

This will be the first new Vampirella material since Dynamite acquired the character from Harris Publications. Vampirella debuted in 1969's Vampirella #1 by Warren Publishing, created by Forrest J Ackerman and co-developed by Archie Goodwin, Frank Frazetta and Tom Sutton.

The character — buoyed in no small part by her iconically revealing costume — saw a revivial during the "bad girl" craze of the '90s, and now returns to comics in an era where mainstream media is obsessed with vampires in properties such as Twilight, True Blood and The Vampire Diaries.

Trautmann is currently co-writing The Mighty Crusaders for DC Comics, and has previously collaborated with Greg Rucka on Action Comics and Checkmate. He spent eight years working as a content developer for Microsoft games, and his run on a similarly scantily clad heroine also published by Dynamite, Red Sonja, starts with that title's #51.

Vampirella #1 will feature interior art by Wagner Reis and a cover by J. Scott Campbell, seen here.
