Is This Your New Movie SPIDER-MAN?
It's not yet confirmed, but reports are saying it's looking very likely that 17-year-old Josh Hutcherson will be playing Spider-Man in the upcoming film scheduled for 2012.Hutcherson is probably best known for his role as Brendan Fraser's teen newphew in 2008's Journey to the Center of the Earth, and last year played a supporting role in Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant. He'll also be in this fall's Red Dawn remake, starring Marvel Studio's big-screen Thor, Chris Hemsworth. Reports surfaced late last night on blog Blue Sky Disney, which said that Sony had made their decision to cast Hutcherson after "extensive test shoots," and went on to intimate that the Lizard will be the film's villain. Latino Review, a film blog with a good track for these types of things, supported the report, saying, "Josh Hutcherson is 99.9% your new friendly neighborhood Spider-Man." Hutcherson clearly has a strong resemblance to the classic Peter Parker "look," and his age certainly seems to confirm that the film will depict the high school version of the Marvel Comics superhero. The movie, a reboot that disregards the events of the first three films starring Tobey Maguire, is set to be helmed by (500) Days of Summer director Marc Webb.
