Post Game TV Recap: FRINGE S2E15 Jacksonville

Post Game TV Recaps: FRINGE Season 2 Ep

For any Fringe fans who were waiting for real excitement, “Jacksonville” did not disappoint!  The episode was fast paced, exciting and even gave a tad bit of alternate world action.

The city of Manhattan began to experience unexplainable earthquakes that resulted in the merging of an existing building with another identical building.  Obviously, these unexplainable circumstances presented a case for the Fringe team.  The man with two faces and multiple arms and legs were a great touch for the “freak-factor,” and better yet, provided the team with clues as to what had happened.  Walter recognizes the circumstances as something he had seen before; the merged building was actually from the alternate universe.  However, nothing could be that simple, as Walter goes on to explain that in order to make things “even,” another building of similar mass would disappear and reappear in the alternate universe.

It was then a race against time to figure out which building would be the target in order to save those inside.  As a child, Olivia had been able to identify items from the other world, describing a glimmer that they possessed.  Walter was convinced that if they traveled back to his lab in Jacksonville where the trials had been performed, he would be able to induce that vision for Olivia again.  After an unsuccessful and haunting trip, the team returns to attempt to figure out which building it will be scientifically.

Olivia comes to realize that it is fear that triggers her ability, and in the heat of the moment she is able to see the glimmer of the building, and just in time manages to save those inside.  After the events, Olivia and Peter set off to get drinks, but before she left with him, she saw him glimmer and suddenly realizes.  Walter asked her not to say anything to Peter, but will the dynamics change now that she knows?

I was waiting for Peter to be able to identify some things from the alternate universe since he is from there, but maybe things don’t quite work that way.  I’m concerned with the romance that the writers keep hinting at between Peter and Olivia, just because their dynamic works so well together now – I’d hate to see something ruin that.  I loved the trip to Jacksonville, and I thought it was a great way for the viewers to fill in the blanks about the pasts of Olivia, Walter, and Bell.

This episode was a great way to go out with a bang for the winter finale.  I honestly don’t know if I’ll be able to make it until April!  Any thoughts on what might be up next?
