G.I. Joe was hidden from the majority of critics, and since premiering has had both mainstream critics and anecdotal reports calling it one of the worst movies ever. However, it proved once again that Hasbro toy properties are just plain hot, people like action movies, and nostalgia is a powerful beast. The movie topped the box office this weekend, with about $56 million in domestic US sales. If you saw it this weekend, it's all your fault when a gun-toting explosives-expert Mr. Potato Head movie comes out.

ABC's new try at subtle-invasion series V will be getting a bit of a late start this fall. They announced at their press tour presentation this weekend that the show will premiere Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 8 p.m. However, it'll be worth the wait, as Morena Baccarin (Firefly), who plays the Alien's leader, will eat a rodent on the show, the first of several planned shout-outs to the original mini-series.

IESB has a fresh rumor that Stephen Spielberg is looking to pick up the currently stuck in development hell Halo movie. The movie is supposed to be a take on the story from before the first game, The Fall of Reach. That story is crurrently being developed by Bungie and Microsoft into a new game, as well, however. Again, this is just rumor, but if Spielberg, a big video game fan, does get his hands on the franchise, chances of a movie actually being made should go up considerably.
