American Horror Story: Hotel actor Charles Melton has been cast as Reggie for Riverdale season 2, according to TVLine. Actor Ross Butler played the role in season one, but Butler's busy filming schedule with 13 Reasons Why recently led CW to recast his role. Now, Butler has given the recently-announced Melton his personal blessing for taking on the part he originated.

"I'm so happy that CW, Greg [Berlanti, producer], Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa, showrunner], and Sarah [Schechter, producer] gave me, an Asian-American, a chance to play a traditionally caucasian character, Reggie," Butler said in a video on Twitter. "And in light of recent casting news, I am even more excited and more proud that they decided to keep the character Asian-American. It means a lot to me, and to the Asian-American community, so I want to say thank you one more time. I support Charles Melton all the way."

Riverdale recently finished its first season, with a second season already greenlit.
