Long-time G.I. Joe writer Larry Hama has created many characters that have been turned into action figures, but now for the first time he's getting one of his own. A current Kickstarter campaign by Fresh Monkey Fiction has received over three times its $6,000 goal to create a figure for the cartoonist, which is scheduled to debut in May 2018.

The 4" figure is designed by Nick Whitmore, and includes art by Adam Riches.

As editor and writer of Marvel's 1980s G.I. Joe title on through to the current IDW title G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero, Hama has created many of the iconic characters in the franchise - and even wrote the bios on the back of the action figure packages. The 1987 Tunnel Rat figure was based on the likeness of Hama
