Universal is eyeing up Rick Remender’s Fear Agent.
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Risky Business Blog, the studio is in “early development” on turning the series into a film. The deal is the latest part of the production and distribution deal between Dark Horse and Universal which has seen Hellboy, 30 Days of Night and Hellboy 2 reach theaters.
As THR reports, the Fear Agent screenplay is currently an “open-writing assignment,” although the studio may be looking at producer Jonathan Shestack, who has a spec script, which would then bring Shestack on as a producer.
As the trade describes it: "Agent" centers on a colorful, borderline alcoholic astronaut named Heath Huston, a Texan who works as a so-called fear agent, the last of a dwindling breed of spacemen whose mission it is to fight threats to the planet Earth, which is partly destroyed during the course of the series.
Remember began the series in 2005.
