ELLIS, DECONNICK, BRUBAKER Invade TV With More Non-Comic Projects

Ed Brubaker, Kelly Sue DeConnick, and Warren Ellis are working on television shows outside of the numerous comic-based adaptations.

DeConnick is writing a new NBC series named Redliners, which is an espionage drama that mixes comedy and romance, and is being compared to Mr. & Mrs. Smith according to Deadline. DeConnick is again working with Shaun Cassidy, whom she worked with on the current Emerald City show.

Meanwhile, Ed Brubaker has joined the writing staff of Too Old to Die Young, a new Amazon series from Drive and The Neon Demon director Nicolas Winding Refn according to The Hollywood Reporter. Too Old to Die Young will explore the criminal underbelly and drug trade in Los Angeles. Brubaker also previously served as a writer and contributing producer on HBO's Westworld.

Finally, Warren Ellis has signed on to write a Castlevania animated series for Netflix, according to the Globe & Mail - he had previously written an unproduced screenplay for an animated film titled Castlevania: Dracula's Curse. The new series will be produced by a new venture entitled Wow Entertainment, from Canadian animator Michael Hirsch.
