New stories from the relaunches of All-New Guardians of the Galaxy and Defenders will share one of Marvel's two Free Comic Book Day 2017 titles. Scheduled for release May 6 as Marvel's FCBD Silver title, the release will coincide with the debut of those two titles as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 movie on May 5.

“Each year, Free Comic Book Day is an amazing opportunity for publishers to showcase some of their incredible titles and stories,” said David Gabriel, Marvel's Senior Vice-President of Sales & Marketing. “It’s an unparalleled opportunity to reach new fans and support our retail partners, so we’re thrilled to provide completely new content for this year’s offerings. These titles are the perfect opportunity for fans to jump into the Marvel Universe with both feet and we’re excited to unveil the contents of this year’s Silver title.”

The All-New Guardians of the Galaxy story in Marvel's FCBD silver title will follow the team as they return to space and meet the rejuvenated Nova Corps. Meanwhile, the Defenders story will delve into a "new criminal element in the Marvel Universe." The stories will be by each book's regular creative teams: Gerry Duggan, Aaron Kuder, and Ive Svorcina on All-New Guardians of the Galaxy; Brian Michael Bendis, David Marquez, and Justin Ponsor on The Defenders.

“Is there a better time to offer fans a sneak peek at the All-New Guardians of the Galaxy series than the same weekend Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters?” said Axel Alonso, Marvel's Editor-In-Chief. “Fans looking for a clean entry into the comic book need look no further. Plus, the creative team behind Civil War II are giving fans a sneak peek at the criminal mastermind that’s awaiting Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist when they explode out of the gate in The Defenders #1.”

Details on Marvel's "Gold" FCBD are said to be announced in the coming weeks.
