The Batman writer/director/actor Ben Affleck is out promoting his current film Live By Night, and appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and answered questions about the upcoming Justice League film and the rumors surrounding his DC solo film.
"I'm going to direct the next Batman. We're working on it," Affleck responded to Kimmel. "It's one of those things that's really frustrating because like Live by Night took me a year-and-a-half to write it and get it ready. And I worked really hard. It's just nobody gave a sh**. Nobody was like, 'Where's Live by Night?' But with Batman I keep on getting, 'Where's the f***ing Batman?!" And I"m like, 'Whoa, I'm working! Give me a second.'"
An as-yet-unconfirmed report back in December indicated that the planned Justice League 2 was being pushed back in order for Affleck and DC Films to focus on the as-yet-unscheduled The Batman. Justice League 2 was originally intended to be filmed back-to-back with this fall's Justice League.
Speaking of Justice League, Jimmy Kimmel also got a chance to give a hot take on the recently released group shot from Justice League, seen here:
"You are by far the most muscular of [the Justice League]," said Kimmel. "Was that in the contract?"
"I make that look pretty good!" Affleck responded. "That's not bad!"
Justice League is scheduled to open in theaters November 17. No release date has been given for The Batman.
