Fans eager for a crossover between the 20th Century Fox-controlled X-Men or Fantastic Four franchises and the Marvel Cinematic Universe may not want to hold their breath, as Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has called such a collaboration an "impossibility."
"It’s an impossibility at this juncture," Feige told Variety in response to the proposition of a joint effort, a la Spider-Man: Homecoming, a joint production with Sony. "We certainly have enough films to keep us busy for a number of lifetimes."
This all may be a moot point, as neither Marvel nor Fox has given any indication that such a crossover even might be on the table.
For Marvel's part, they have movies scheduled through at least 2020, while Fox has general plans for future X-Men films, but no immediate plans to revisit the Fantastic Four franchise despite initially planning a sequel to 2015's ill-fated reboot.
