Writer Chelsea Cain has deleted her Twitter account following online harassment and what she describes as "cruelty" from "misogynist bullies." Cain, who wrote Marvel's recent Mockingbird series, came to comic books after being a New York Times bestselling prose author, and said she had never experienced online harassment before writing comic books.

Following the deletion of her Twitter account, Cain's plight received considerable attention from another subset of comics fans, as well as comic creators and executives like Marvel Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso. The hashtag "#StandWithChelseaCain" became a unifying quote, with it growing so popular as to become a trending topic on Twitter Wednesday evening.
