With Deadpool director Tim Miller reportedly leaving the film's sequel over creative differences, a fellow superhero director has expressed his thoughts on Miller's departure. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn, who has been vocal about his appreciation for Deadpool, said on Twitter that he was disappointed with Miller's exit.
Honestly bummed about Tim Miller leaving Deadpool. He did an amazing job with the first one; I’d like to have seen where he’d go next.— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) October 22, 2016
Fans have echoed Gunn's statements, but some have taken a more proactive approach to their disappointment, attempting to enlist a legendary director to the production, launching a petition to bring Quentin Tarantino on board for Deadpool 2.
"If there was ever a chance to see Tarantino do a project almost guaranteed to make a billion dollars, this is it," reads the Change.Org petition created by Carl Champion, Jr. "We got a great taste of what this could be like in Kill Bill, but imagine having a guy like Tarantino write dialogue for The Merc with the Mouth! It would be so glorious. Join me!"
The petition goes on to explain that "Quentin Tarantino is the master of dialogue, and Ryan Reynolds is a master of delivering dialogue. Tarantino makes ultra-violent movies where you love the characters, with horrible language, sexy women, and a villain you will NEVER forget. Tell me Marvel doesn't need another one of those."
The petition currently stands at 1,121 signatures.
