Long before Mark Ruffalo became Marvel Studios' Hulk, he tried out to be another green-themed Marvel character: Doctor Doom.

In the recently released documentary Doomed: The Untold Story of Roger Corman's The Fantastic Four, the filmmakers discovered that four popular actors tried and failed to be part of the famously-unreleased 1994 Fantastic Four film. In addition to then-rookie Ruffalo auditioning for the Marvel film, Lost's Titus Welliver, Xena: Warrior Princess's Rene O'Connor, and The Tick's Patrick Warburton were all discovered to have auditioned.

How did they discover it? Then-casting assistant Mark Sikes kept the sign-in sheets from the 1992 auditions.

Doomed: The Untold Story of Roger Corman's The Fantastic four is available on home video now; the 1994 Fantastic Four has never been officially released.
