A live-action film based upon the lives of Wonder Woman creators William Moulson Marston and Elizabeth Marston, and their model Olive Byrne is in production with Sony Pictures, according to Deadline. Writer/director Angela Robinson reportedly began production on Professor Marston & The Wonder Women this week, with Luke Evans, Rebecca Hall, and Bella Heathcote in the respective roles.
Marston, who later gained fame outside of comics for creating an early version of the lie detector device, created Wonder Woman in 1941 with his wife, Elizabeth, who was a fellow psychologist with Willam at Harvard. Byrne was a former student of the male professor, who became a model for the character as well as becoming romantically involved with the couple.
Coincidentally, the recent graphic novel Yes, Roya by C. Spike Trotman and Emilee Deinch was based roughly on the lives of Wonder Woman’s creators as well.
No release date for Professor Marston & the Wonder Women has been announced.
Warner Bros.’s live-action Wonder Woman film is scheduled for release June 2, 2017.
