Recently confirmed Deathstroke actor Joe Manganiello has tweeted an image of a veritable pile of comic books he's reading as research for his role as Slade Wilson. Manganiello's Deathstroke will be one of the main antagonists for Ben Affleck's Batman solo film, and may appear as early as 2017's Justice League.

Among the books in Manganiello's pile are several recent Deathstroke issues from"Rebirth," Geoff Johns's Teen Titans, and Deathstroke comics from the New 52 all the way back to the 80s.

There are two titles that stand out, however - Geoff Johns and Gary Frank's Batman: Earth One, and Brad Meltzer and Rags Morales' Identity Crisis. Deathstroke does not appear in Batman: Earth One, but that choice may be an indicator of where Affleck's movie is headed, tonally - not surprising, considering Johns is reportedly co-writing the Batman solo film with Affleck.

Secondly, there's Identity Crisis. It's unlikely that DC Films would adapt this story at this point, however Identity Crisis did have Batman in a key role, and one of its most memorable scenes involved Deathstroke taking on the entire Justice League - something Manganiello's version could very well do, especially if he debuts in Justice League.

Justice League is due out in theaters November 17, 2017. The as-yet-untitled Batman solo film has not yet received a release date.
