Eight writers have been named for DC's next Writers Workshop course led by Scott Snyder. Described as "Members of the 2016 class," these writers come from comic books, prose novels, radio, television, and film. According to the publishers, the eight creators won out over more than 1,500 other entrants.
The writers are:
- Owl Goingback (Bram Stoker award winner for Crota, Sealed With A Kiss)
- Erica Harrell and Desirée Proctor (writers of MTV’s Happyland and The Walking Dead: Michonne for Telltale Games)
- Al Letson (Planetfall, Imperfect, Peabody award winner for NPR’s State of the Re:Union)
- David Accampo (Lost Angels, Sparrow & Crowe)
- Aaron Gillespie (LadyDemon, Bionic Man)
- Ryan Lindsay (Ghost Town, Negative Space)
- Tony Patrick (X’ed, writer of short film Black Card)
“We were blown away by the positive response to the DC Writers Workshop program,” said Bobbie Chase, DC's Vice President of Talent Development. “After reading through thousands of entries we’re confident this new class of 2016 represent the best and brightest aspiring writers in comics.”
Snyder added to that, saying he was "thrilled and honored" to teach another class.
"The level of incoming talent is incredibly inspiring, and I'm deeply grateful to DC for giving me the chance," said Snyder.
Curiously, DC describes this group as "aspiring" writers in their press release, despite each have significant credentials inside and outside of comic books - including some which have done work for DC previously.
Previous alumni of the DC Writer's Workshop and its companion Artist's Workshop are contributing to the November 30 anthology New Talent Showcase #1.
