Diamond Comic Distributors have sent out delayed invoices to several retailers in regards to shipping charges for 2016 Free Comic Book Day titles. The Direct Market distribution giant declined to disclose the exact number of retailers affected by this "billing error," but Newsarama has confirmed that it's affected retailers serviced by all three of its North American distribution centers.

“Diamond made a billing error and neglected to charge certain retailers freight charges for FCBD books," said Michael Moccio, Diamond's Advertising/Partnerships Marketing Manager. "We’re working with retailers to remedy the situation and have taken steps to ensure this won’t happen in the future.”

Although retailers give away Free Comic Book Day titles for free to its customers, retailers themselves pay generally a $.20 to $.60 cost per issue, as well as shipping and handling charges to Diamond.

One retailer, who has chosen to remain anonymous, reports that these freight charges amount to just over $55 for his store.
