J.K. Simmons's role as Commissioner Gordon in Zack Snyder's currently in-production Justice League movie is still something of a mystery, but according to Simmons himself, his presence is more of the icing on the cake than the main event in the film.
"In this first installment of the Justice League, Commissioner Gordon is not a particularly sizable part," Simmons told Entertainment Tonight. "We just kind of introduce him and see a little bit of his interactions with Batman - and with most of the Justice League."
Simmons also said his part has already wrapped filming, but his comments leave the door open for future interactions with the League. At the very least, he'll likely have a more meaty role in Ben Affleck's still-untitled Batman solo film.
As for working with Zack Snyder, Simmons was effusive with praise.
"That was a really fun set. Zack [Snyder] runs sort of a big, happy family and it's obviously, in many ways, a very different work environment when you're working on a big, giant movie like that than a relatively small movie... But at the end of the day, the director is the one who sets the tone."
Justice League is currently filming for a November 17, 2017 release.
